On May 1, 2026, forces from the Front for the Liberation of Azawad (FLA), in collaboration with the terrorist group JNIM, seized the Amachach military camp in Tessalit and ousted Africa Corps and the Malian army (FAMa). The scene is symbolic, and an effort is being made on social media to showcase the camp under the control of the FLA and its allies.

INPACT/AEOW has received photos from inside the camp showing notes left by Africa Corps. The documents are handwritten in Russian, reference radio codes that match documents obtained previously, and provide some details regarding the unit’s organization on the ground. The equipment listed confirms the 2026 timeframe.

First is an equipment and materiel inventory sheet titled “1st Battery/Mortar Section — Romb, Gueriy, Feran.” The names are almost certainly call signs, and the sheet details their weapon assignments.

The second document is more obscure and appears as a list of numbers assigned to code names, which may represent individuals or positions/units. Some are crossed out or circled, and the numbers are not in order.
